Ghana needs only a draw to make it to the last eight of the African Cup of Nations but Claude Le Roy says his team will fight for a win against Morocco in the last group game.

As Group A goes down to the wire, three teams – Ghana, Morocco and Guinea – all remain in contention of quarter-final places.

Ghana sit at the summit of the group with six points after picking their second successive win with a 1-0 victory over Namibia while their closest rivals, both Morocco and Guinea, have three points apiece, heading into the final group games.

But as the group goes down to the wire, Le Roy wants to maintain that winning run.

“We have six points but the three teams can go to the quarter finals. I think it’s better to have six points than three points. Because, I think a draw is enough for us to finish first. But we wouldn’t play for a draw; we would play to win this last game,” Le Roy said.

Morocco, Le Roy’s opponents for Monday’s game started off the tournament recording a 5-1 win over Namibia before going down 3-2 to Guinea on Thursday.

However, Le Roy says he is not worried to face Henri Michel’s team in the last match as he expects a good game.

“We know the Moroccan team is a very good team. They lost today (Thursday) 3-2 to a team that we beat in the first game. That means, it is exactly what I was saying before this competition that in this group, three teams are very, very strong and anything can happen.

“But we would try to do a very good game against Morocco, but I am not very worried about the last game, we would be ready for this game,” added, Claude Le Roy.

Guinea play Namibia in the other Group A match.
