Qualification to the quarter-finals of the African Cup of Nations begins in Group A, where Ghana and Morocco stand the brightest of chances of making it into the last eight.

Ghana will be assured of a quarter-finals place at the African Cup of Nations if they pull victory over Namibia in Group A on Thursday and hope Guinea lose to Morocco.

Before Ghana's game, Morocco, who top the group would play Guinea at the same venue.

Four-time champions, Ghana take on Namibia in the second group game of the double-header at the Ohene Djan Stadium.

Sulley Muntari's last-gasp goal helped Ghana beat Guinea 2-1 in their opening game while Namibia were thrashed 5-1 by Morocco a day after.

Despite the record defeat picked up by the Namibians at the Nations Cup - surpassing the 4-1 loss inflicted by South Africa in Burkina Faso 10 years ago, Ghana is keeping their focus for the game.

Black Stars coach, Claude Le Roy expects the match to be difficult and that view is shared by his players too.

"With Namibia it's going to be a difficult game - we know that," said Ghana coach Claude Le Roy.

The Brave Warriors who are making only their second appearance at a Nations Cup, are expected to improve on their first game performance.

Arien Schans, coach of Namibia hopes Monday’s poor performance will spur on his side to lift up their game for the game against Ghana.

“Well, you know in football, there’s always one game that most of the points are going wrong. Hopefully for us, it was our game today (5-1 defeat to Morocco).

“Against Ghana, the situation is like this in my opinion. First, today (against Morocco) we had a very good experience on how you cannot behave and as you all know as well as I know, Ghana, has a very physical, strong-body players. So, today, we know this already, if you don’t fight back, then you receive a very simple of your goals," Schans said after the defeat on Monday.
