President Kurt Edwin Simeon-Okraku has been appointed to an 11-member Ministerial Oversight Committee tasked with steering Ghana’s preparations for the 2026 FIFA World Cup.

The committee, by the Presidency, will provide strategic leadership and ensure effective inter-ministerial coordination as the Black Stars gear up for their fifth appearance at the global football showcase.

Its mandate extends beyond technical preparation, focusing on ensuring that Ghana maximizes the full spectrum of opportunities offered by the World Cup, technically, diplomatically, economically and culturally.

The high-level body will supervise the work of the already inaugurated Technical Working Group, receive periodic progress reports, and lead key initiatives, including resource mobilisation, investment partnerships, fan engagement efforts and the global promotion of Ghana’s image.

With the World Cup less than a year away, the formation of this committee signals a coordinated national effort to strengthen planning and deliver a successful campaign on and off the pitch.
