The Black Starlets have finished top of Group A at the 2026 WAFU Zone B U17 Championship after playing out a goalless draw against hosts Burkina Faso in their final group-stage encounter in Ouagadougou.
Coach Kassim Ocansey’s side finished the group stage unbeaten, recording two wins and a draw to accumulate seven points from their three matches and secure the top spot in the group.
The Black Starlets opened their campaign with a 1-0 victory over Togo before recording a 3-1 win against Benin to confirm their qualification to the semi-finals. They rounded off their group-stage campaign with a hard-fought stalemate against Burkina Faso.
Ghana scored four goals and conceded just one across their three matches, underlining their defensive solidity and consistency throughout the group stage.
The result against Burkina Faso ensured the Black Starlets maintained their unbeaten record as they shifted their attention to the semi-final stage of the competition.
Ocansey and his technical team will now await the outcome of the final Group B encounter between Nigeria and Ivory Coast to determine Ghana’s opponents in the semi-finals.
Having finished at the summit of Group A, the Black Starlets will be hoping to carry their impressive group-stage form into the knockout rounds as they continue their quest for the WAFU Zone B U17 Championship title and qualification for the 2027 U17 Africa Cup of Nations.
