Ghana midfielder Sulley Muntari is backing calls for his English side Portsmouth to sign his compatriot John Mensah.
Mensah, who plays for French club Rennes, has recently been linked with a switch to the Premiership side.
The defender is also being sought after by several top clubs across Europe after excelling at the recent Africa Cup of Nations.
Despite the interest from these clubs, Mensah has expressed his desire to play for Portsmouth.
Muntari has now told his club to sign the defender to boost their chances next season.
“They should go for him,” Muntari said of his international team-mate.
Even though Mensah is still under contract with Rennes he has reached an agreement for him to leave at the end of the season.
