The Ghana Football Association (GFA) and the Ministry of Sports and Recreation have constituted a five-man Search Committee to lead the recruitment of a new Head Coach for the senior national team, the Black Stars.
The decision was reached following a successful meeting between the leadership of the GFA and the Ministry on Friday, October 2, 2026, in Accra.
The Committee will be chaired by former Vice-President of the Ghana Football Association, Mr. Fred Pappoe, who brings vast experience in football administration and governance.
He will be supported by four other distinguished members:
Anthony Baffoe – General Secretary of the Professional Footballers Association of Ghana (PFAG) and former Ghana International, Agbesi Dzakpasu (Esq.) – Legal Practitioner and football administrator, Stephen Appiah – Former Black Stars Captain, and Faisal Chibsah – High-Performance Specialist.
According to the terms of reference, the Committee is mandated to identify, evaluate, and recommend a suitable candidate for the vacant Black Stars coaching role.
The Committee is expected to submit its report to the Ghana Football Association.
The Black Stars coaching position became vacant on Thursday, October 1, 2026, following the resignation of Portuguese trainer Carlos Queiroz after the September international window.
The GFA and the Ministry wish to assure Ghanaians of a transparent and merit-based process to secure a competent coach to lead the Black Stars in the upcoming assignments.
