The groups for the 2026 KGL Foundation Inter-Regional U17 Colts Championship have been announced, with Ghana’s most promising young footballers set to battle for regional supremacy from October 4 to 11, 2026.

The sixth edition of the prestigious youth tournament will take place at the Ghanaman Soccer Centre of Excellence in Prampram, bringing together 12 teams representing Ghana’s 10 Regional Football Associations (RFAs) and the GFA Elite Academies from the Northern and Ashanti regions.

The participating teams have been divided into two groups of six, with each RFA selecting its finest U17 talents from district and zonal Colts competitions to represent their respective regions.

Greater Accra will face a competitive challenge from Northern, Central, Volta and Upper East, while the Prempeh College-based Elite Academy completes the group.

Defending champions Ashanti Region headline Group B and will renew their rivalry with last year’s runners-up, Western Region. Brong Ahafo, Eastern, Upper West and the Bolgatanga-based Elite Academy will also compete for places in the knockout stages.

The group-stage fixtures will determine the teams that progress to the knockout rounds, with the competition building towards a grand finale on October 11, when the new champions will be crowned.

Beyond the competition for honours, the KGL Foundation Inter-Regional U17 Colts Championship has established itself as an important platform for identifying and developing emerging football talent across the country.

Over its six editions, the tournament has helped uncover promising youngsters who have gone on to represent Ghana at junior national-team level, feature prominently in domestic football and earn opportunities to continue their development with clubs abroad.
