Ghana international, Richard Kingson could make his Premiership debut against Chelsea on Sunday after Birmingham City received international clearance for the him.

The Black Stars goalkeeper together with another Blues teammate, De Ridder are now eligible to feature in the league campaign which begins this weekend.

This positive news means, Kingson, who agreed a deal to join Blues last month could then be involved against Chelsea in Birmingham's opening game of the season at the weekend.

Birmingham are now just waiting for the Premier League to approve the deals for Kingson and his colleague.

A statement on the club's official website read: "Blues have finally received international clearance for goalkeeper Richard Kingson and winger Daniel de Ridder.

"Both players have been registered with the FA, which meant that they were eligible to play in Saturday's pre-season friendly game against Sheffield Wednesday, along with Liam Ridgewell and Franck Queudrue.

"The club is now just awaiting confirmation of all their registrations from the Premier League and this is expected to be received within the next few days.

"This will mean all members of the playing squad will be eligible to take part in Sunday's Premier League trip to Stamford Bridge to face Chelsea."
