Elite Academy Prempeh College and Western Region have emerged as the early pace-setters in Groups A and B respectively following the conclusion of Matchday One at the 2026 KGL Foundation Inter-Regional U17 Colts Championship on Sunday, October 4.
Prempeh College made a winning start in Group A, defeating Northern Region 2-0 to move straight to the summit with three points.
Greater Accra also opened their campaign with victory, edging Central Region 1-0 to sit second on three points, behind the Academy side on goal difference.
Volta Region occupy third place with two points after their dramatic 5-3 penalty shootout victory over Upper East Region following a 2-2 draw in regulation time. Upper East have one point, while Central and Northern Region are yet to register a point after the opening round.
In Group B, Western Region lead the standings on goal difference after producing the biggest win of Matchday One, thrashing Eastern Region 4-0.
Elite Academy BIG Boss also made a strong statement by defeating defending champions Ashanti Region 4-1 in their opening fixture. The result puts BIG Boss level with Western Region on three points, but second on goal difference.
Brong Ahafo complete the top three after securing a 2-0 victory over Upper West Region to also pick up three points.
Defending champions Ashanti Region occupy fifth place, while Eastern Region sit bottom of the group following their heavy opening-day defeat.
Sponsored by the KGL Foundation, the championship forms part of the Ghana Football Association's Talent Development Scheme (TDS), an initiative focused on identifying, developing and nurturing emerging football talent across the country.
The competition provides an important platform for promising young players to showcase their technical ability, tactical understanding and potential while competing against some of the country's finest youth prospects.
