Organisers for today's international friendly between Ghana and Nigeria have confirmed that the game would go ahead despites rioting in certain parts of London and England.

Justin Addo, who heads the company organizing the event, says he had been given no reason to think the game should be called off.

"I spoke to the Commercial Director at Watford, and he told me that as far as they are concerned, everything will go on as planned," Addo said.

Riots that began in Tottenham on Saturday night after a protest over a police shooting have spread throughout London - and indeed other parts of England, leading to the calling of the Three Lions' game with Holland that was scheduled for Wednesday in Wembley.

However, Ghana's meeting with rivals, Nigeria at the Vicarage Road Stadium in Watford would be on with the game kicking off at 7:30pm (8:30pm in Accra).

With Metropolitan Police in London stretched due to the violence, concerns had been raised that officers could be drafted in from places like Watford, but Addo says that would have little effect on the game

"Our match doesn't really required police presence, just like in the past. We require more stewards than police so this should not really have much effect on the game.
