Executive Council Member Samuel Aboabire has led a delegation from the Football Association to officially welcome Congolese giants TP Mazembe to Tarkwa ahead of their highly anticipated CAF Champions League encounter against Medeama SC on Sunday, September 6, 2026.

Mr. Aboabire was joined by CAF Safety and Security Officer John Ansah and Joseph Tetteh Zutah of the National Team Department as part of efforts to ensure a smooth and memorable experience for the visiting delegation during their stay in Ghana.

The Football Association officials interacted with their counterparts from TP Mazembe at the Longji International Hotel, exchanging pleasantries and discussing arrangements surrounding the team's stay in Tarkwa.

TP Mazembe's arrival has further heightened anticipation in Tarkwa, where excitement is building ahead of Sunday's first-leg preliminary-round showdown at the TnA Stadium.

Medeama will host the five-time African champions in what promises to be a captivating encounter, with supporters expected to turn out in large numbers to create a memorable atmosphere. The TnA Stadium is expected to be packed to the rafters as the Yellow and Mauve seek to make home advantage count against one of the continent's most accomplished and respected clubs.

The staging of CAF Champions League football in the mining town marks another remarkable chapter in Medeama's impressive rise in Ghanaian and African football.

For the first time in history, Tarkwa will play host to elite African club football, placing the town firmly in the continental spotlight and giving its passionate football community an opportunity to witness one of Africa's biggest club competitions on home soil.
