The Football Association (GFA) successfully delivered safeguarding oversight during the Elite U-19 Boys Championship held at the Ghanaman Soccer Centre of Excellence (GSCE), Prampram, ensuring that the safety, wellbeing, and protection of all participating young players remained a key priority throughout the competition.

As part of the tournament preparations, the GFA conducted a pre-competition safeguarding risk assessment to identify potential risks and establish appropriate measures to mitigate them. The assessment considered key areas relating to player safety, welfare, medical support, emergency response, and the overall safeguarding environment.

Before the competition, players received safeguarding education on some of the dangers they may face in football, including abuse, exploitation, and player trafficking.

The sessions encouraged players to remain alert to potential risks, make informed decisions, and report concerns through the appropriate channels. Players were also reminded of the importance of seeking support from trusted adults and designated safeguarding personnel whenever they encounter situations that may threaten their safety or wellbeing.

Throughout the championship, the GFA maintained a focus on player welfare, particularly for players who sustained injuries during matches and training activities.

Injured players were monitored to ensure they received the necessary medical attention and appropriate follow-up care.

The MTN Elite U-19 Championship concluded on Friday with Ashanti Region emerging winners.
