
Head coach Dr. Prosper Narteh Ogum has expressed satisfaction with the progress of the Black Starlets after their second training session in Yamoussoukro, Ivory Coast, ahead of the WAFU Zone B U17 Championship. The Ghana U17 team has been in Ivory Coast since early this week, stepping up preparations for their opening fixture against Togo on Saturday.
Speaking after Thursday’s session, Dr. Ogum said the players are steadily adapting to their new environment and showing encouraging signs of improvement. “The players are getting used to the pitch and environment and are getting better with their trainings. We have just been working on how we win the ball and how we attack the spaces to get goals,” he explained.

The team’s second training session placed particular emphasis on pressing, ball recovery, and attacking transitions, with the technical staff fine-tuning their strategies ahead of competitive action.The WAFU Zone B U17 Championship, which begins on September 20, will determine which teams qualify for the 2025 U17 Africa Cup of Nations. Ghana has been drawn in Group A alongside Togo, Ivory Coast, and Niger.
The Black Starlets face Togo on Saturday at the Charles Konan Banny Stadium before playing Ivory Coast on Tuesday and Niger on Friday in their final group fixture.
