Asante Kotoko will be looking to finish the first round of the Premier League on top as the competition reaches the penultimate fixtures come off this weekend.

Before Sunday's round of matches, Berekum Chelsea's poor start to the season will be under scrutiny again when the former champions welcome Liberty Professionals to the Golden City Park.

Kotoko are four-points clear but face a big task on Sunday when Medeama arrives at the Baba Yara Stadium.

Despite leading the pack, there is still some way to go for the defending champions, Kotoko, who have rivals, Hearts of Oak just behind in second place.

A slip would add on to the pressure but a win against Medeama will all but confirm their position at the top going into the second round.

Still serving an indefinite home ban, Mohammed Polo will hope to continue with the winning start as he leads Hearts of Oak against Aduana Stars at the Len Clay Stadium.

AshantiGold, one the challengers for the title at present face a difficult trip to Bechem with the Miners needing a win to close-in at the top.

Heart of Lions will be looking to claim notable away scalp on their journey to Wa where they come up against an inconsistent Wa All Stars who are just one point above the relegation zone.

King Faisal, having moved out of the relegation zone will be aiming to continue with their climb up the log but will come up against Hasaacas in a tricky contest at the Essipong Stadium.

New Edubiase, at home could add up to Ebusua Dwarfs' poor form this season when the Cape Coast side arrives at the Gyamfi Park.

The Tema derby will conclude the weekend's action as the two sides - Amidaus Professionals and bottom side, Inter Allies - in the relegation zone come face-to-face.
