Competition: 2012 African Nations Cup Qualifier

Teams: Congo v Ghana

Venue: Alphonse Massamba Debat Stadium - Brazzaville

Date: March 27, 2011

Time: 14:30 GMT [2:30PM Local Time]

Ghana and Congo are fully aware of how valuable victory over either side would represent in the Group I standings of the qualifying for 2012 African Nations Cup.

Both sides face each other at the Alphonse Massamba Debat Stadium in Brazzaville today in the third round of games for qualification places at the tournament to be played in Gabon and Equatorial Guinea.

The Black Stars top Group I on goal difference with four points and ahead of Sudan who are themselves are at home to Swaziland with Congo, a point behind Ghana.

Goran Stevanovic's side would be looking for a crucial three points that would put them in a comfortable position of qualifying as they take a cue from minnows, Botswana, who provided a good example by becoming the first team to qualify for next year's tournament.

"After beating Swaziland 3-0 and drawing with Sudan 0-0 at home, we are determined to make amends as a team and what we want on Sunday is to get the three points," Ghana's captain, John Mensah said.

"We have the quality and confidence but I bet nothing comes easy. We will have to give our best against Congo and make it past them by getting a valuable win. All this will have to come through hardwork and commitment but nothing is impossible in football."

A second win from three qualifying games would be good for Ghana's campaign before they take on Congo at home later in June.
