The Black Maidens fought back to earn a hard-fought 3-3 draw against Brazil in their second Group C game, with substitute Priscilla Mensah rescuing a vital point late on.
Brazil made a dream start when Nicolly Manuel put them ahead inside 7 minutes, silencing the Ghanaian support.
Coach Nana Adarkwa's side responded well and found their rhythm. The equalizer came in the 31st minute through defender Rafia Osman, who rose to power home Ghana's first goal of the game.
Ghana's momentum continued and just four minutes later, they took the lead. Gloria Ameaa made it 2-1 in the 35th minute, turning the game on its head.
Just when it looked like Ghana would go into the break ahead, Brazil levelled. Kaillany Ranifah got Brazil on level pegging in the 44th minute, and the first half ended 2-2.
After the break, Brazil restored their lead when Indy increased the tally for the South Americans.
Ghana pushed for an equalizer and were rewarded five minutes from time. Priscilla Mensah, who came off the bench, gave Ghana a respite in the 85th minute with an easy tap-in after a delightful ball from Jessica Appiah Asamoah, who tormented the Brazil defence throughout the game.
The result leaves Ghana with 1 point from two matches following their 3-0 loss to Norway on Sunday. The Black Maidens must now beat Canada in their last Group C game to have any chance of making it to the next stage of the competition.
