Midfield maestro Jessica Appiah Asamoah was named Player of the Match after a sensational performance in Ghana's thrilling 3-3 draw against Brazil in the FIFA U-17 Women's World Cup.

The Black Maidens midfielder was at the heart of everything good about Ghana's play, tormenting the Brazilian defence throughout the 90 minutes with her vision, energy, and creativity.

While the goals came from Rafia Osman, Gloria Ameaa and late hero Priscilla Mensah, it was Jessica who provided the spark.

Her moment of magic came in the 85th minute — with Ghana trailing 3-2 and staring at a second straight defeat after their opening loss to Norway — she picked up the ball in midfield, beat two markers, and delivered a delightful defence-splitting pass for Priscilla Mensah to tap home the equalizer.

It was her second key chance created in the game and capped a performance full of dribbles, tackles, and intelligent play.

Stats from the game:

  • 1 Assist (Equalizing goal)
  • 4 Chances created - most in the match
  • 7 Duels won
  • 3 successful dribbles

The award will be a huge boost for the youngster as Ghana prepares for a must-win final Group C clash against Canada, where they need a victory to keep their qualification hopes alive.
