PLB announces award system

The Professional League Board of the Ghana Football Association announces the award system for the selection of the season’s deserving actors.

A release signed by Welbeck Abra-Appiah, Chairman of the Professional League Board outlines the criteria that would be used by the league body to award winners in the various categories during the 2007/2008 OneTouch Premier League.

PROCESS FOR SELECTION OF AWARD WINNERS

CATEGORY 1 - CHAMPION CLUB

PLB will select the award winner based on the point build up at the end of the league.

CATEGORY II-V – BEST PLAYERS

Head coaches of the sixteen Premier League Clubs will nominate three candidates and give reasons for their selection. The input will then be processed and the final award winners and runners-up will be selected by the PLB Award Planning Committee.

CATEGORY VI - BEST CEO/CHAIRMAN

The Chairmen/CEOs’ of the sixteen Premier League Clubs would select two candidates each for consideration. The following weights would then apply for the final selection: - CEO/Chairmen – 20% - GFA/PLB - 40% - Texting (public) - 40%

CATEGORY VII - BEST COACH

The Head Coaches for the Premier League Clubs will nominate two coaches each for consideration. The following weights would then be applied for the final selection: - Head Coaches - 20% - GFA/PLB - 40% - Texting (public) - 40%

CATEGORY VIII & IX – BEST REFEREE/BEST ASSISTANT REFEREE

The Referees Committee will nominate three candidates for each category and assign reasons for their choice. Thereafter the PLB Award Planning Committee will select the final winners and runners-up.

CATEGORY X - BEST BEHAVED CLUB SUPPORTERS

The PLB Awards Planning Committee will select the Award winner on the bases of match reports submitted by Match Commissioners, Referees and Observers.

CATEGORY XI - FAIR PLAY CLUB

The winning Club will be selected by the PLB Awards Planning Committee on the basis of the following verifiable criteria:

- Number of yellow cards received - 1pt. - Number of red cards received - 3pts. - Ban on home matches - 5pts. - Disciplinary actions and fines imposed By PLB/Disciplinary Committee - 3pts.

CATEGORY XII - GOAL KING

The PLB Award Planning Committee will select the Award Winner based o the goal scoring chart at the end of the league.

SUBMISSION OF NOMINATIONS

All nominations are expected to be submitted to the PLB Award Planning Committee latest by 7th July 2008 for further actions.
