Contrary to expectations, Accra Hearts of Oak would be without a substantive CEO for year as the club’s board names five-man Interim Management Committee.

The Phobians today (Wednesday) confirmed Steven Akwetey as the head of a five-man Interim Management Committee whiles five-member party search nominated by the board continue their hunt for a CEO.

The IMC also includes the club’s administrative secretary Ashford Tetteh Oku, former management member in charge of finance, Maxwell Addo, board member Frank Nelson and Frank Anokye who is the head of the club’s junior side Auroras.

The team has a one-year mandate to lead the club. Steven Akwetey was previously team manager of the club.

The Phobians have been without a substantive CEO since the Thomas Okine’s investiture as a traditional ruler within the Ga State (a local ethnic group).

A club statement last month named a five-member search party to find a suitable person to take over the administrative reigns of the club.

The five are: Commodore Mensah, Board Chairman, Professor Kofi Kumado Togbe Afede XIV, Harry Zakkour, former CEO of the Club and Alhaji Issaka, a Director of the Club.

The Committee is expected to advise the Board on the modalities for the appointment of a new CEO at its next meeting.

The premier league champions were expected to appoint a new CEO before the start of the new season in August but with Wednesday’s decision, the search lingers on.

The former CEO, Thomas Okine before stepping down won for the Phobians their 19th league title.

Thomas Okine took over from Harry Zakkour as the CEO of the club in 2001.
