Medeama were undone on penalties at home by Congo's AC Leopards, ending their debut campaign in the CAF Confederation Cup.

The Mauves managed to send the second-leg play-off into penalties after scoring 2-0 in regulation time to tie the game, having lost by the same margin in the first leg last week.

Medeama overcame a first half penalty miss by Michael Helegbe to score twice.

An opener from another penalty, this time, converted by goalkeeper Muntari Tagoe gave the FA Cup holders the lead in the first half before a second from Hans Kwofie handed them a lifeline in the competition.

With the home support cheering them on at the Essipong Stadium, Medeama fell short in the shootouts as they lost 4-5 to the Congolese side.

Leopards, thus progress to the group stage of the Confederation Cup.
