A late goal helped Ghana to a 2-1 victory over South Africa at the Ohene Djan Stadium in the penultimate women's Olympic qualifier.

The Black Queens, thus inch themselves closer to picking Africa's automatic spot for the 2008 Beijing Olympic Games.

The top placed team in the three-nation group qualifies automatically for the 2008 Beijing Olympics with the runners-up engaging Brazil in the play off.

Florence Okoe volleyed in the late winner from the edge of the Bayana Bayana penalty area to secure Ghana a double over South Africa and nine points while maintaining their hundred percent record in the qualifiers.

The away team stunned the expectant home support when they jumped into the lead after 13 minutes through Veronica Phewa, who rounded up Ghana's goalkeeper Memunatu Suleiman from a Portia Modise assist before slotting in the opener.

However, two minutes afterwards and the home crowd were sent jubilating courtesy a Safiatu Abdul Rahumu goal.

Both sides pushed for the lead but ended the half at 1-1.

The second half got underway and the pattern was no different from the first session as the two teams failed to score, with the scores still staying 1-1, a result which could have hampered Ghana's chances.

With just a couple of minutes to end the game, Florence Okoe popped up to send the stadium into bliss with that wonderful volley that enhanced Ghana's chances of reaching Beijing.

The Black Queens would play the final qualifier away to the Super Falcons of Nigeria in March.

Ghana needs a draw to clinch the automatic spot now.
