The special relationship between the Ghana Football Association and supporters of the various national teams gets off to a great start in the New Year.

On Thursday, GFA President Kwesi Nyantakyi started his year's work by meeting some supporter-groups to outline the sport-body's vision.

More than 500 fans turned up in Nima, a suburb of Accra, as Mr Nyantakyi interacted with them. He assured them of a thorough preparation for the Black Stars at the 2014 World Cup.

"I want to assure you that on our part as the GFA we will facilitate your activities by giving you the necessary support to ensure that your travel to various tournaments to support Ghana are smooth," he told the supporters group MISUGHA.

He revealed that the other national teams including the women's sides will unveil their full plans by the end of this month with the vision of making them fight to global titles.

On the domestic competitions, Mr Nyantakyi explained that plans are afoot to boost the local league this year following the huge leap of getting continental broadcasters SuperSport to cover the league.

He also stated the GFA will continue to fund the women's league whiles they still seek external sponsors.

He promised that youth football will see a massive lift since changes in the structure of the colts league and training of coaches were implemented last year.
