Ghana's U-17 women's team failed to overturn a first-leg loss against Nigeria in a two-game international friendly series.

The Black Maidens, who trailed 3-1 from the first leg in Lagos lost 2-1 on Sunday to their rivals in the return clash at the Accra Sports Stadium.

Ghana conceded an early goal as their opponents jumped in front through a fifth minute opener from Aku Cynthia Onyedikachi as Nigeria went into the break on-nil up.

Five minutes after the break, Ghana drew level through Lilly Niby.

And with the game coasting to a draw, Ajibade Rashidat scored the winner seven minutes from time to hand her side the victory.

The two-leg friendly series forms part of preparations for either side ahead of their participation at the FIFA U-17 Women’s World Cup in Costa Rica which starts in March of this year.

The Black Maidens together with Nigeria and Zambia are Africa's three representatives at this year's World Cup.
