
Medeama SC suffered a 3-1 defeat to TP Mazembe in their CAF Confederation Cup group opener played on Sunday in Lubambashi, DR Congo.
Rainford Kalaba's brace and Coulibaly's goal helped T.P Mazembe secure victory Medeama’s who had taken an early lead.
The Ghanaian side started the game on a positive note after Malik Akowuah put then ahead in the 5th minute.
TP Mazembe however drew level with Kalaba's 21st minute strike which neat Muntare Tagoe in post for Medeama. Salif Coulibaly put the Congolese side ahead on the stroke of half time after he headed in from Solomon Asante’s free kick. Kabala scored his second and Mazembe’s third in the second half when he hit a shot from the left side of the penalty box to give his side the three points at stake.
Medeama will face Algerian side MO Bejaia in their second group stage match to be played at the Sekondi Stadium on June 29.
