Elite Academy, Prempeh continued their impressive run in the 2026 KGL Foundation Inter-Regional U17 Colts Championship with a commanding 5-0 victory over Volta Region on Matchday Three.
The Academy boys maintained their perfect record at the Ghanaman Soccer Centre of Excellence in Prampram, producing another dominant display to underline their credentials as serious contenders for the title.
Thomas Asante opened the scoring before Yusuf Sabits and Michael Brebi each found the net twice to complete a convincing rout.
Elsewhere, Elite Academy, BIG Boss came from behind to hand Brong Ahafo their first defeat of the competition, securing a 2-1 victory.
Brong Ahafo took the lead in the 60th minute through Bright Ameyaw, but Elite Academy, BIG Boss responded strongly. Abotaaba Bernard Ayamdoo restored parity in the 69th minute before Desmond Ndego completed the comeback ten minutes later.
Greater Accra were forced to settle for a point after a thrilling 1-1 draw with Upper East, although they eventually prevailed 3-2 on penalties.
Greater Accra made a flying start when Nicholas Yeboah fired them ahead in just the second minute. Upper East fought back, with Samson Tamzu scoring the equaliser to ensure the match went to a shootout.
At the FIFA pitch, Central Region secured their first win of the tournament with a comfortable 2-0 victory over Northern Region.
Emmanuel Armah broke the deadlock in the 21st minute before Issaka Mahmoud doubled Central Region’s advantage to seal the victory.
In Tuesday’s early-morning fixture at the betPawa pitch, Eastern Region produced one of the standout results of the day, thrashing defending champions Ashanti Region 4-0.
Isaac Buabeng Jnr opened the scoring in the 11th minute, while Kingsford Sakyi doubled Eastern Region’s advantage in the 30th minute.
The onslaught continued just four minutes later as Stanley Akamah Tetteh made it 3-0. Bright Botway completed the rout in the 79th minute as Eastern Region sent a strong statement to the rest of the competition.
Western Region also climbed to the top of Group B after securing a 3-1 victory over Upper West Region.
Abu Frank put Western Region ahead in the 69th minute before Emmanuel Nyakum struck twice in quick succession, scoring in the 73rd and 75th minutes to put the result beyond doubt.
Iddrisu Abdul Shakur pulled one back for Upper West, but Western Region held firm to claim all three points.
The KGL Foundation Inter-Regional U17 Colts Championship forms part of the Ghana Football Association’s Talent Development Scheme (TDS), an initiative focused on identifying, developing and nurturing emerging football talent across the country.
Sponsored by the KGL Foundation, the tournament provides some of Ghana’s brightest U17 prospects with a crucial platform to showcase their technical ability, tactical understanding and potential while gaining valuable competitive experience against top young talents from across the country.
