Kotoko trounce Wiaga to reach FA Cup third round

Asante Kotoko beat third-tier side Wiaga United 4-0 on Tuesday to reach the MTN FA Cup third round.

The win keeps alive the double hopes of the Porcupine Warriors on the domestic front as they are the current leaders in the Premier League.

Godfred Asante's brace, a goal by defender Joseph Ochaya and an own goal handed Didi Dramani's side a perfect win at the Bolga Park.

Their reward will now be a place in the Round of 32 in the New Year as they chase their eighth Cup success.

The Cup competition has already claimed its casualties with five Premier League sides already out ahead of the last 32.

Record Cup winners, Hearts of Oak, who have won the competition 10 times have been dumped out. Also exiting just the Phobians are Wa All Stars, Ebusua Dwarfs, Heart of Lions and Amidaus Professionals.

They all suffered elimination at the hands of teams from the lower divisions.
