Great Olympics seal Premier League return

Great Olympics earned promotion back to the Premier League on Friday after beating Tema Youth 2-1 in the final play-off match in Kumasi.

The result of the top-of-the-table clash at the Baba Yara Stadium handed the 'Wonder Club' 9 points and a third-straight victory in three matches in the Zone III qualifying campaign.

Tema Youth drew first blood after 17 minutes when Isaac Nyarko scored to put them on the verge of qualification.

However, Great Olympics drew level with a minute to halftime through Stephen Tetteh to end the opening half 1-1 apiece.

Great Olympics returned from the break much stronger and succeeded in jumping in front for the first time when Joseph Armah scored in the 52nd minute.

Armah's goal proved to the be match winner as it sealed the Accra side's passage to the elite division once more.

In the other fixture, Istanbul defeated Okwawu United 1-0 at the Len Clay stadium.

Istanbul secured the three points, their first in the play-offs through a goal by Timothy Gagba.

It was Okwawu's - a former Premier League side - third-straight defeat in the qualifying campaign.
