Ghana's qualifying chances from Group C at the African Nations Championship goes to the wire after sharing the spoils with Libya on Friday.

Maxwell Konadu's side after taking a first half lead allowed the Libyans back into the game in the second half as the game finished 1-1 in Bloemfontein.

A 6th minute thumping header by Asante Kotoko attacker, Yahaya Mohammed put the home-based national team in front after a cross by Theophilus Anobaah found him in the box.

Ghana could have doubled their lead before the break but paid for poor finishing as goal scorer, Yahaya was denied by the trailing leg of the Libyan goalkeeper in the first half.

With a one-nil lead in the bag, Ghana went into the break with the upper hand.

However, the Libyans returned much stronger and piled the pressure. They continued to ask questions of the Ghana backline until they succeeded in earning a penalty, 12 minutes after the hour mark.

Defender Nuru Sulley was adjudged to have fouled an opponent in the box and from the result kick, Faisal Saleh sent goalkeeper Stephen Adams the wrong way.

Ghana will now prepare for the next match against Ethiopia without Yahaya, who picked his second booking of the tournament.

Both sides remain joint-top on 4 points apiece as Libya still lead the table with a better goal advantage ahead of the final round of matches on Tuesday in the 16-nation tournament exclusive to players based in their home countries.
