A galaxy of former Black Stars stars will return to the pitch on Saturday, September 19, 2026, when the Black Stars Legends take on the United Merchant Bank (UMB) Speed Stars in a special friendly at the Adjiringanor Astro Turf.
The encounter, being played under the auspices of the Football Association (GFA) and the Professional Footballers Association of Ghana (PFAG), will bring together some of Ghana’s most celebrated former internationals and leading figures from UMB in a football showcase designed to strengthen relationships and foster closer cooperation between the football and corporate communities.
The Black Stars Legends squad features a wealth of experience, with former national team goalkeepers Fatau Dauda and Sammy Adjei set to take their places between the posts.
They will be joined by a distinguished group of former Ghana internationals, including Afo Dodoo, Yaw Acheampong, Yaw Preko and George Alhassan, as well as Daniel Opare, Prince Tagoe, Majeed Waris, Emmanuel Agyemang-Badu, John Paintsil and Jerry Akaminko.
The reunion of these former Black Stars stars is expected to provide a nostalgic occasion for football fans, while showcasing the enduring connection between Ghana’s football legends and the game they served with distinction.
The UMB Speed Stars will be led by the bank’s Captain and Chief Executive Officer, Dr. Philip Oti-Mensah, who will line up alongside colleagues from the financial institution. The UMB squad includes Dennis Nyaku, Kingsley Sesenu, Christian Boakye, Richard Sarfo, Patrick Afrifa and Abdul Rahman Musa, among others.
