The FIFA Women's Football Campaign scheduled to take place in Dabala - Volta Region on 14th July 2026 in partnership UNFPA has ended successfully.

As part of the activities, a brief session on Sexual and Reproductive Health and Rights (SRHR) Education was facilitated by Mr. Emmanuel Christopher Makam aimed to empower young female footballers with knowledge to make informed decisions about their health, rights, and well-being.

Objectives of the Session included;

Providing age-appropriate information on sexual and reproductive health and rights.

Promoting menstrual health, bodily autonomy, and self-care. Creating a safe space for girls to ask questions and access guidance. Linking health education with sports development and personal empowerment.

The girls were engaged on topics including menstrual hygiene, bodily autonomy, healthy relationships, and access to SRHR information and services. Emphasis was placed on making safe and informed choices about their health and future. The interactive session encouraged questions and open discussion in a supportive environment in small groups.

The UNFPA’s role in supporting adolescent girls’ health and empowerment was highlighted by equipping the girls with practical knowledge and confidence to protect their health and dignity both on and off the pitch.

Participants expressed appreciation for the opportunity to learn and engage on topics relevant to their growth and development.

The SRHR education session was a valuable addition to the FIFA Women's Football Campaign in Dabala. It reinforced the importance of addressing health and rights alongside sports and demonstrated the impact of partnerships like that with UNFPA in promoting holistic development for girls in football.
