Despite the gap between Ghana’s game and that of the other developed football leagues in Europe and some African countries, the Ghana Football Association is bent of measuring up to the standards when it comes to broadcasting of the domestic game.

After securing a $2.750million TV rights deal for the premier league with an African broadcast satellite channel, the FA is preparing the clubs to meet the demands of what the deal brings to the table as it invites all premiership clubs to the table for talks with sponsors.

A day’s Broadcast Seminar would be held at Ghana’s House of Football, the headquarters of the Ghana Football Association in Accra on Friday which starts in the morning would seek to inform premiership clubs about their role in the broadcast deal while the TV sponsors clarify their duties in the whole arrangement.

Members of the Executive Committee, Professional League Board together with title sponsors of the premier league, OneTouch and broadcast partners, Afri-Sat and Gateway Broadcast Services would be present at the seminar.

According to FA President, Kwesi Nyantakyi, the seminar is geared at bringing all parties together to address issues of major concern and move the game forward.

“The seminar is intended to inform the clubs of their obligations under the agreement with the broadcast partners. It would also serve to build a working relationship between the sponsors and clubs directly.

“The forum would also address any concerns between clubs and sponsors,” Kwesi Nyantakyi told www.ghanafa.org.

The Ghana Football Association in October 2007 signed an exclusive deal with Afri-Sat, a satellite television channel to broadcast the premiership for three years.

The three-year deal worth $2.750 million, gives the South African-based television channel exclusive rights to broadcast Ghana’s elite league, the OneTouch premier league on their network.
