After a rather quiet World Cup, Michael Essien says he will not rush to make a final decision on his international career.

The AC Milan midfielder didn't play as many minutes for the Black Stars in Brazil as Ghana exited the competition in the first round.

He has also missed two Africa Cup of Nations qualifying games after the disappointing World Cup experience.

But Essien, who turns 32 later in the year is prepared to wait a little longer before taking a firm decision.

"At the moment, I haven’t decided what I want to do next in regards to my international career," Essien told FIFA.com.

For now, the midfielder's focus is to get his club career going and help restore Milan to their glory days.

"I am hoping to contribute to Milan’s success in any way I can and hoping we can finish in the top two or three. We have high hopes of doing well and my job like any other Milan player is to fight for the club when called upon so we can succeed as a group."
