The Black Starlets have intensified their preparations in Yamoussoukro, Ivory Coast, ahead of their opening match in the WAFU Zone B U17 Championship. The team held their second training session on Thursday as they sharpen tactics and fitness levels for the tournament.

Under the guidance of head coach Dr. Prosper Narteh Ogum and his technical team, the session focused on refining game plans, set-piece routines, and improving overall team cohesion. The players trained with high intensity, demonstrating determination and focus ahead of Saturday’s clash with Togo at the Charles Konan Banny Stadium.

Encouragingly, the squad reported no injury concerns, with all players fit and available for selection. This gives Coach Ogum a full complement of options as Ghana prepares to begin its campaign in Group A, which also features hosts Ivory Coast and Niger.

Speaking after the session, Dr. Ogum expressed confidence in his team’s readiness: “The boys have shown great commitment and focus. We are working on the final details, and I believe by Saturday we will be ready to give Ghanaians a performance to be proud of.”

The WAFU Zone B U17 Championship, running from September 20 to October 3, serves as the qualifying competition for the 2025 U17 Africa Cup of Nations. With a rich history at youth level, Ghana will be aiming to secure qualification and possibly win the title.

The Black Starlets will face Togo on Saturday in their opening fixture before taking on Ivory Coast and Niger in their subsequent Group A matches.
