Black Maiden face tough Group B opposition at World Cup

Ghana will take their place in Group B of the FIFA U-17 Women’s World Cup alongside North Korea, Germany and Canada.

The Black Maidens, who will be making their fourth-straight appearance at the World Cup were handed the tough group at Tuesday's official draw at the Antigua Aduana in San José, Costa Rica.

Ghana have been pit with the 2012 runners-up Korea DPR - champions of the inaugural edition in 2008 - against Germany and Canada.

In the group phase next year, Ghana will face North Korea in the opening match on 15 March, Germany on 18 March and Canada on 22 March.

Hosts Costa Rica will play Venezuela in the opening match of the World Cup on 15 March 2014.

The tournament will be played in three stadiums in San José as well as in one stadium in Liberia from 15 March to 4 April 2014.

Ghana won bronze at the 2012 World Cup in Azerbaijan where they made their third successive appearance at the finals.

Africa will have three representatives at next year's World Cup.

Group A: Costa Rica, Venezuela, Italy, Zambia

Group B: Ghana, North Korea, Germany, Canada

Group C: New Zealand, Paraguay, Spain, Japan

Group D: Mexico, China PR, Colombia, Nigeria
