Accra Hearts of Oak were left to rue their missed chances as Gamba All Blacks beat them 1-0 on Sunday to win the special "Nii Ayibonte" Cup match in honour of the former CEO of the Phobians, Tommy Okine, who has since been installed as a traditional ruler.

The Phobians hopeful of lifting the cup donated by the former CE could not find target as their attackers appeared wasteful in the first half.

Gamba All Blacks, lining a host of new recruits managed to hold the Phobians but back from recess, the Black Magicians shot into the lead.

Osei Bonsu, one of the new signings by the Black Magicians scored the game’s only goal to see his side lift the trophy at stake at the El-Wak stadium.

Also on Sunday, Asante Kotoko continued with their preseason preparations in the Central Region where the Porcupine Warriors playing in the hometown of head coach, Bashiru Hayford, beat Islamic Stars, a first division side 3-1.

All three goals were scored by new signings Isaac Anderson and Abass Bundu both from Sekondi Hasaacas put Kotoko ahead before the division one side pulled a goal back.

Eric Opoku, a tertiary student at the Sunyani Polytechnic, who is on the standby list of the Porcupine Warriors awaiting to be made a regular after completing school, grabbed the third goal.
