President Kurt Edwin Simeon-Okraku has announced a major package of logistical support for Colts Clubs as the Football Association continues to strengthen the foundations of grassroots football development across the country.
The GFA President made the announcement during the launch of the 2026/27 Colts Football Season on Tuesday, September 15, 2026, at the Ghanaman Soccer Centre of Excellence in Prampram.
Addressing a well-attended gathering of football stakeholders, President Simeon-Okraku outlined a range of interventions aimed at equipping Colts Clubs with essential playing and training materials while creating a stronger environment for the development of young footballers.
As part of the support package, the GFA, in partnership with Hoshi International, marketers and distributors of X1 Energy Drink, has donated 3,000 footballs for distribution to Colts Clubs across the country.
This complements the GFA’s continued annual investment of US$100,000 in the procurement of footballs for grassroots football, underscoring the Football Association’s commitment to ensuring that young players have access to the basic equipment required to develop their skills.
The partnership with Hoshi International will also see 15,000 jerseys distributed to Colts Clubs nationwide, providing further support to clubs as they prepare for the new season.
In addition, the GFA will provide 15,000 pairs of casual shoes to Colts Clubs across the country as part of the GFA's broader efforts to improve logistical support and strengthen the Colts football structure.
The President further announced that each Colts Club will receive 10 footballs per season for the next three seasons, while every club will also receive two sets of football bibs each season over the same three-year period.
The package represents a sustained commitment by the GFA to provide practical support to clubs at the grassroots level and ensure that the Colts system continues to serve as a viable pathway for identifying, nurturing and developing young football talent.
The launch of the 2026/27 Colts Football Season brought together a strong representation of Ghana football, including members of the GFA Executive Council, Regional Football Association Chairmen, Colts legends and club representatives, national team coaches and other key stakeholders.
Also present were Programmes Manager of KGL Foundation Nii Sarpei, GFA Technical Director Professor Joseph Kwame Mintah, Juvenile Committee Chairman JoeSalam Abubakar, and legendary former Ghana striker Asamoah Gyan, himself a product of the Colts football system.
The presence of former Colts stars alongside administrators, technical officials, partners and club representatives highlighted the enduring importance of the grassroots system to the development of Ghanaian football and its role in producing players who go on to represent the country at the highest level.
