Assifuah receives Presidential support at Glo-CAF Awards

Ghana's lone-ranger, Ebenezer Assifuah, shortlisted for an award at Thursday's Glo-CAF Awards Gala will have some home support as Ghana Football Association President arrives in Lagos.

GFA President Kwesi Nyantakyi, who is also a CAF Executive Committee member touched down in Lagos on Thursday morning together with some Ghanaian journalists who will be covering the ceremony at the Eko Convention Centre tonight.

Former Ghana U-20 striker, Assifuah is on the final three-man shortlist for CAF's Most Promising Talent award.

The striker is the only Ghanaian representative in any of the award categories and faces competition from Saleh Gomaa of Egypt and Nigeria's Kelechi Iheanacho.

The Ghana international won the Golden Boot trophy at the 2013 FIFA U-20 World Cup in Turkey and helped his country to win third-place after scoring six goals in seven matches.

Prior to the tournament in Turkey, he struck three goals at the African U-20 Championship in Algeria where Ghana reached the final.

He was named in the tournament best XI.
