Aduana FC will lock horns with Asante Kotoko in a top of the table clash on Match Day 11 of the Ghana Premier League at the Agyemang Badu Park on Saturday.

Asante Kotoko have one outstanding match against arch rivals Accra Hearts of Oak but are joint top on the League log with 20 points with the same goal difference (+8) but the Dormaa sit at the top due to the superior number of goals scored – (17 goals) three better than Asante Kotoko who have netted 13 times in 9 matches.

Two- time champions Aduana FC suffered a blow on Sunday after they were beaten 1-0 by Medeama SC – bringing an end to a six match unbeaten run that dates back to Monday, November 21, when they annihilated Real Tamale United 5-1 at the Agyemang Badu Park.

Former Asante Kotoko captain Emmanuel Gyamfi has been in a scintillating shape for Aduana FC since the start of the season. Gyamfi has scored five goals for the former champions - making his switch from Kumasi to Dormaa extremely valuable to the Ogya lads.

Aduana FC will aim to protect their unbeaten home invincibility against Asante Kotoko at the Dormaa Park where the Porcupine Warriors have scored only once and failed to win in over 10 visits.

The Ogya lads have not lost to the Reds in Premier League history since 2009 when they first qualified for elite football under former coach Herbert Addo. They will also fight to start the New Year on a more positive note against the Reds.

Asante Kotoko have not been consistent in recent weeks – as they have won 2, lost 2 and drawn 2 in their last six matches across competitions. The Ghanaian giants defeated Legon Cities (2-1) and WAFA (1-0) but Wednesday’s 1-0 loss to King Faisal in the MTN FA Cup is still fresh in their memory.

Coach Prosper Ogum’s side have not lost in their last three matches on the road – coming off two wins and one draw in matches against Bibiani Gold Stars (1-0), Karela United FC (0-0) and Legon Cities (2-1).

The Porcupine Warriors will be without two of their stalwarts Isaac Oppong and Fabio Gama due to injuries. The duo who form an integral part of the clubs flying start to the season were left out of the squad that traveled to Sunyani on Friday for fitness reasons.

The technical team however received some good news ahead of the game as they traveled with Christopher Nettey, Ismail Abdul Ganiyu and Salifu Mudasiru following their return to full fitness.

The last meeting between the two sides in May 2021, ended goalless at the Nana Agyemang Badu I Park at Dormaa.

The Aduana FC versus Asante Kotoko match is scheduled for live broadcast on StarTimes Adepa channel 247 at 3pm on Saturday, January 1, 2022.
