Christine Zigah is among 12 female officials taking part in CAF's “Elite ‘B’ Men’s Referees and Assistant Referees/Women Referees and Assistant Referees course”.

The Ghanaian referee is at the course which for the first time has brought together male and female participants. The training opened in Cairo on Monday.

CAF referees Committee member, Mr Charles Masembe said it was important to replenish the refereeing stock and keeping them competitive.

“We decided four years ago to create an Elite B group to help replenish our top officials in Elite ‘A’ and it is good to see the realization of these plans and ideas. We aim to have five referees and five assistant referees from the men’s Elite ‘B’ promoted to the Elite A every year.

“It also means a similar number will be moving the opposite ways, so this pool (Elite B ) is going to be vital in assisting us keep and maintain our Elite ‘A’ officials sharp and ready” said Masembe.
