Prince Tagoe was delighted with his opening goal that set the stage for Ghana to claim a 3-0 win over Libya in the qualifiers for the 2010 African Nations Cup and World Cup.

The Al-Ettifaq striker, opened the scoring at the Baba Yara Stadium in the 15th minute for Ghana when he raced onto a Junior Agogo pass to beautifully chip over the advancing Libyan goalkeeper, Samir Abbud before Agogo and Laryea Kingston added the two other goals in the second half.

Tagoe, back in the Ghana squad after having played for the Black Stars at the 2006 African Nations Cup, hopes his goal and contribution can help him retain his Ghana place for the coming games.

“For two years I waited for the chance to prove again that I am good enough for the national team so you can imagine my delight at the way the game went today. I took the chance well and only hope that it is enough to dispel the notion that I am not good enough to strike for the national team,” he said.

After a good start, the striker is confident convinced that the qualifiers will end in the manner it has started for Ghana.

“There is a certain level of unity among the players that I definitely think will take Ghana through.

"On and off the field, the players are a collective unit, the players understand each other better and I feel already that we have a great chance of making it.”
