The Ghana Football Association extended their impressive run in the UG Corporate Football League with a well-deserved 2-0 win over Ghana National Petroleum Corporation.

The GFA dominated the first half in all departments, setting the tone early in the contest. Ishmael opened the scoring in just the 3rd minute, giving GFA a dream start. Their control and attacking intent continued throughout the half, and Eric Donkor doubled the lead on the stroke of halftime. The goal came under unfortunate circumstances for GNPC, whose goalkeeper was injured in the build-up and had to be replaced.

The second half began with GNPC introducing a new goalkeeper as they looked to regroup. While they showed improved urgency and increased their tempo, they struggled to break down a well-organized GFA defensive setup.

GFA remained firmly in control and continued to create chances. Just four minutes into the second half, they came close to extending their lead, but GNPC managed to clear the danger. Further opportunities followed, including a glorious chance in the 13th minute and another missed effort by Zutah in the 16th minute.

In the 17th minute, GFA made a substitution, with Gideon making way for Quaye, as they maintained tactical discipline and control of the game.

GNPC’s attacking efforts were largely contained, with the Petroleum Boys managing only a single meaningful attempt on goal. Late in the game, Nathan produced a crucial intervention to deal with a dangerous situation and preserve GFA’s clean sheet.

Tensions boiled over in the final minute as the GNPC captain was shown a red card, capping a frustrating afternoon for his side.

At the final whistle, GFA secured a convincing 2-0 victory, underlining their strong form and tactical superiority in the competition.
