Sports Minister upbeat about Ghana's chances against Mali, Qatar

Sports Minister Isaac Asiamah (Hon.) has expressed optimism about Ghana’s chances against Mali and Qatar in this week’s International friendlies.

The Minister believes winning the two matches would restore supporter confidence in the team and also bring back the love. Hon. Asiamah believes the 'new' Black Stars, can lift the flag of Ghana high and ignite passion and sense of patriotism in Ghanaians.

"After Covid-19 pandemic, this is our first national assignment and we hope and pray that the Black Stars will once again lift high the flag of Ghana. The Black stars will become the stars that we are all proud of and live up to expectation because they will embed in them that high spirit of patriotism and nationalism, he told ghanafa.org

"Ghanaians are proud of the Black Stars. For me, let us have a new Black Stars that are poised for action and once again conquer Africa and go to the world and do well at the world stage.

"A new Black Stars that will inspire our younger generation. A new Black Stars that will indeed show to the world that Africa has come of age in terms of football.

"Once again, the West African sub region will continue to become the power house of football in Africa " he added

The Black Stars will play Mali on October 9 in Turkey, their first outing since the COVID-19 pandemic broke out in February this year.

The team will then proceed to play 2022 World Cup host Qatar three days later and coach C. K Akonnor will be looking at starting his tenure with wins.
