Defending champions Medeama SC were held to a 1-1 draw by Vision FC as they opened their Premier League title defence at the Nii Adjei Kraku II Sports Complex in Tema New Town on Saturday, September 19, 2026.
Vision FC made the brighter start and took an early lead in the eighth minute through Naziru Alhassan Nyeney, who put the home side in front and gave the hosts a strong platform to build on.
Medeama responded with greater urgency after the break and found the equaliser just two minutes into the second half through Kingsley Braye, restoring parity and setting up an engaging contest for the remainder of the match.
The encounter proved to be a game of two halves, with Vision FC enjoying the better of the opening period before Medeama returned from the interval with renewed purpose. Neither side could find the decisive goal, however, as the points were shared in Tema New Town.
Medeama were unable to reproduce their 2-1 comeback victory over Vision FC at the same venue last season but will take a point from their first league outing of the campaign.
The champions will have little time to dwell on the result as they return to action on Wednesday, September 23, when they face Dreams FC in an outstanding Premier League fixture at the Tuba Astro Turf.
Vision FC move to four points from their opening two matches and currently sit sixth on the league table, while Medeama occupy 13th position with one point from their first game, having two matches in hand following their CAF Champions League commitments.
Heart of Lions 0-0 Swedru All Blacks
Heart of Lions' difficult start to the new Premier League campaign continued as they were held to a goalless draw by Swedru All Blacks at home on Saturday.
The Kpando-based side remain without a victory after three matches, having opened their campaign with a goalless draw against Aduana FC before suffering a 2-1 defeat to Asante Kotoko last weekend.
Despite home advantage, Lions once again struggled to find the breakthrough, with Swedru All Blacks holding firm to claim a valuable point on the road.
The result means Heart of Lions have collected just two points from a possible nine and sit 12th in the standings. Their failure to score at home for the second time this season will be a concern as they continue their search for a first victory.
Swedru All Blacks, meanwhile, continue their steady start to the campaign. The newly promoted side now have four points from three matches and occupy fifth place, following their opening defeat and subsequent 1-0 victory over Debibi United.
The result also extends Lions' wait for a home league victory, while All Blacks leave Kpando with an important point on the road.
