Ghana coach, Sellas Tetteh says he was not surprised with his team's performance that saw them edging out Brazil in their round of 16 clash on Wednesday at the FIFA Under-17 World Cup.

The Black Starlets reduced to ten-men after Francis Boadi was sent off in the 44th minute of the first half needed a second half goal in the 51st minute through Isaac Donkor to qualify them to the next stage of the competition - quarter-finals.

"I'm not surprised by this result. I knew my players had the will and ability to get over this hurdle. They'd already proved that to me and today they showed everyone else.

"I'm certain they are destined for great futures. When we picked up the red card, we had to change our tactics. With a player less in midfield, we played more long balls to find our forwards a bit quicker.

"We're going to have to work very hard for the rest of the tournament, particularly on our tackling, but I'm not worried because we have good organisation, good tactics and the desire to go all the way.

"I knew this team couldn't get knocked out of the tournament this early," the confident Ghana coach said in a post game interview.

However, his opposite number, Lucho Nizzo of Brazil, who had predicted that his team would win the World Cup even before the game praised Ghana's strength and agreed that the Black Starlets deserved to go through.

"Getting eliminated is always difficult to take, but we came up against a great Ghana side. They're very strong physically and they showed they fully deserve their place at this level.

"Today just wasn't our day and it came down to a tiny detail. Despite his mistake, though, we can't blame our goalkeeper. He's only 16 and he has his future ahead of him to prove his worth."

Ghana play another South American sidem Peru, in the quarter-final of the competition on Saturday in Changwon.
