Ghana coach Milovan Rajevac admits his subdued mood after his side's 1-0 win over Serbia was out of respect for his compatriots.

Striker Asamoah Gyan scored from a spot kick in the 84th minute to hand the Black Stars victory in Pretoria on Sunday.

Despite hailing the win as the greatest in his career, Rajevac, himself Serbian today explained that he feels sorry for the Serbia players.

"It is important to show respect to them (Serbia). They are a strong side but we had to do a professional job," he said.

"I know they are a football loving nation. I could see the disappointment on the faces of the players and could imagine the disappoinment back home.

"My low key celebration was out of respect for my country. But I am also happy with our start. A win is important and we got it."
