As the league prepares for the penultimate fixtures on Wednesday before the last games of the first round, the pressure is increasing on Asante Kotoko to hold on to their lead while Berekum Chelsea look to end their poor run.

Clubs go into the midweek fixtures of the Glo Premier League aware of the tight competition at the top and the closeness of the points at the bottom of the table.

Kotoko, who are joint-top with rivals Hearts of Oak have an uphill task keeping their position at the summit with a visit to the Accra Sports Stadium on the cards.

The Porcupine Warriors come up against an in-form Liberty Professionals who easily dismissed Dwarfs 3-0 in Cape Coast.

Liberty's victory over the weekend would serve as motivation when they come up against Kotoko who have only picked a point from their last two games. The return of striker Ahmed Toure could also be an added boost for Maxwell Konadu's side when they arrive in Accra.

Hearts of Oak would be hoping to pile the pressure on Kotoko as they chase a win in their fixture against second from bottom, Bechem United at the Bechem Park.

Champions, Chelsea, who dropped out of the top four over the weekend would head into the Berekum derby against Arsenal determined to halt a poor run judging by their standards.

Chelsea are chasing their first win after a winless run of five successive games and would need a derby win to turn around their season.

Wa All Stars after spurning the opportunity to go top of the standings travel to the Agyeman Badu Park to play Aduana Stars.

Tema Youth would host New Edubiase at the Tema Park while Heart of Lions welcome Mighty Jets, who are three points above the drop to the Kpando Park.

Medeama's talents have failed to match their ambition but Bashir Hayford would be hopeful of getting a response from his side after the weekend loss in Bekwai when they take on Ebusua Dwarfs at the Sekondi Stadium.

AshantiGold would seek to lift their season once again with the visit of the league's bottom side, Wassaman to the Len Clay Stadium.
