Three premiership games disrupted by heavy rains in Accra and Tema on Sunday were finally cleared today as Accra Hearts of Oak survived a late scare to win at home as Liberty Professionals moved back into second place while Great Olympics shared the spoils with Tema Youth.

Liberty Professionals have reclaimed the second place after securing a 2-0 win over Sekondi Hasaacas at the Carl Reindorf grounds.

Goals from Kofi Nti Boakye and Ashmond Asamoah helped the Dansoman-based side to second place after heavy rains forced the game to be cancelled yesterday and rescheduled for today.

The win by Liberty puts further pressure on leaders, Asante Kotoko – who do not play until Thursday – as the gap has been narrowed to four points.

Kofi Nti Boakye connected from a corner kick within 60 seconds into the start of the game before Ashmond Asamoah doubled up the lead 72nd minute.

At the Ohene Djan Stadium, Accra Hearts of Oak survived a real threat as they came up tops in the five-goal thriller with Real Sportive.

The Phobians edged the Tema-based team 3-2 after having taken a comfortable 3-0 lead before the 75th minute.

Within two minutes, Bernard Dong Bortey, a bit-part player during the first round of the season had fired the Phobians into lead scoring a brace before substitute, Ishmael Addo set up fellow substitute, Edward Adjaglo to score the third goal in 64th minute.

Sportive came back strongly with Mohammed Yakubu capitalizing on a goalkeeping error by Laud Quartey to score in the 75th minute.

Yakubu Mohammed was on hand to score a personal second in the 84th minute but the Phobians from then held on for the win which sends them to the middle ranks of the table after a rather poor run of results in the first round of the league.

Bottom clubs, Tema Youth and Great Olympics shared the spoils at the Tema Park in their 1-1 drawn match.

Suleimana Faisal put Tema Youth in front in the 42nd minute but that lead was cancelled out in the second half by Moses Dogo for the Wonder Boys in the 83rd minute.

The late kick off game between King Faisal and Gamba All Blacks at the Baba Yara Stadium ended in a 1-1 draw.
