Ghana coach Otto Addo has praised fans of the senior national team for their unwavering support at the 2022 World Cup in Qatar.

The Black Stars boss heaped praise on the fans for continuing to support the side through thick and thin after a disappointing start at the tournament.

Thousands of Ghana fans turned up to support the side when they suffered a 3-2 defeat in their opening group match on Thursday against Portugal.

Ghana will be counting on the support of the fans on Monday when they play South Korea as they must secure a result to keep alive their hopes of advancing.

Speaking at a press conference ahead for the decisive Group H match against the Asians, Addo expressed his gratitude to the fans for their unflinching support.

The boss reserved special praise for the supporters following Thursday night's defeat.

"No matter where we go and in whatever situation we find ourselves, our fans are resolutely behind us. I want to use this opportunity to thank them for their support," Otto Addo said during Sunday's press conference.

"When we played our World Cup qualification against Nigeria, they fully supported us. Even here in Qatar - there is a huge Ghanaian community here.

"When we arrived in Qatar and at the hotel it was really massive. I was really, really surprised and we truly appreciate it."

Ghana are bottom of the group with no points after South Korea held Uruguay to a goalless draw in Thursday's match of the group.

Portugal, who are top of the group with three points thanks to its victory over the Black Stars, will take on Uruguay in the group's other match on Monday.

The match between Ghana and 28th-ranked South Korea will be played at 1300 GMT at the Education City Stadium in Al Rayyan, west of Doha.
