Ghana Football Association President Kwesi Nyantakyi is confident that the quality of football in the sub-region will continue to grow through tournaments such as the Wafu Cup.

Nyantakyi, who is the chairman of Wafu Zone B said at launch at this year's GoTv Wafu football tournament in Accra believes West Africa has lots to offer the world football.

"The return of the WAFU Cup is a great moment for football on the continent and for international football; this is a special moment for the game in West Africa and the entire continent," Nyantakyi said at the press launch.

"Today, we launch a special tournament that has promoted and created competitive opportunities for players from the sub-region to horne their skills and foster regional integration.

"The past successes of the game has proven that football and the Wafu Cup has grown new territories by bringing people of diverse backgrounds together to compete and share ideas."

The tournament to be hosted by Ghana next month will see eight teams from the sub-region participating which will be beamed live on international network, SuperSport and local television, GTV.

"This tournament will have huge global following and that is the opportunity we have with this event to showcase the quality of the African game from the West.

"It will deliver exposure for all eight teams both directly during the tournament and via a massive local and international television audience. We are a proud continent, let us put on a show," the GFA President said.

Ghana, Togo, Benin, Burkina Faso, Niger, Senegal, Sierra Leone and Gabon will take part in this year’s tournament which is designed for only home-based players.
