Inter Milan manager, Jose Mourinho has denied local media reports that he has agreed a $1 million fee to assist Ghana at the 2010 World Cup finals.

Reports in the local media which emanated from the state-owned newspaper, the Graphic Sports on Friday claimed that the Portuguese had accepted the offer to assist Ghana’s bench at the tournament.

However, in a response to the publication, Mourinho, who has in the past stated his preference for club management to the national team role maintains that he will not be at South Africa when the tournament even gets underway on June 11.

Mourinho’s reaction to the publication made available to www.ghanafa.org read: “After my last match with FC Internazionale, I will be on holiday and no way I [will] join any national team or other team involved in the WC 2010.

“So, every word about my participation in the WC 2010 is completely untrue,” Jose Mourinho said in his statement to the Ghana Football Association.

With the credibility of the story now in doubt, spokesperson for the FA, Randy Abbey contends that it’s rather an unfortunate publication.

“We find it very strange that the newspaper did not find the need to speak to any person on the FA over such an issue which rather turns out to be untrue.

“I find the professional conduct of the Graphic Sports very remarkably,” he says.
